About

For Maria, her favorite sources of inspiration are moments in time. It’s those moments of actual observation which can lead to a new sculpture or series. “I have all these snapshots in my mind of those little moments . . . a dad’s face when he makes his child laugh, a mom cheering at her son’s hockey game. Emotions and people’s facial expressions mesmerize me.”

Maria works in polymer clay and textiles. She loves the realistic properties of polymer as a sculpting medium and has established herself not only as a Certified Master Doll Artist, but as the Canadian Ambassador for the Polyform Products Co. The line includes Sculpey, Premo and her favorite, Living Doll Polymer Clay. Her sculptures appear on the packaging of two of the company’s Living Doll product line and is often called upon to test new products or help create new skin tones and colors. She also teaches her unique sculpting methods and is part of the faculty of two online teaching forums and conferences.

As a professional artist, Maria also does portrait commissions, vignettes, public installations and community projects.
